The NuVasive Spine Foundation™ Announces 2 New Direct Mission Locations

With so much Shareowner help and support, the NuVasive Spine Foundation (NSF) has accomplished some amazing milestones and impacted so many patient lives over the last several years. Since 2009, NSF has visited 31 countries through mission trips, performed more than 1,000 life-changing spine surgeries, spent 600 hours training local surgeons and donated $23 million in mission trip funding, NuVasive products and services. It is a privilege to bring life-changing spine surgery to patients in need all across the globe. The work we are doing—particularly through the direct mission program – furthers the NuVasive purpose of changing patient lives every day, and is a true differentiator within the spine market, for our NUVA culture and the patients we serve.

With support and the new team’s hard work over the last year, NSF is excited to announce it is relaunching the direct mission trip program in TWO new locations: Monterrey, Mexico and Tegucigalpa, Honduras.

NSF’s mission remains the same, as it continues to help transform patient lives in disadvantaged communities across the globe. Through the direct mission trip program, NSF travels to a mission site and leads a NuVasive surgical team comprised of surgeons, neurophysiologists and product specialists in providing life-changing spine surgery for in-need patients while also training local surgeons on innovative spine techniques and technology.

In Monterrey, Mexico, the foundation will partner with Global Spine Outreach and focus on pediatric deformity cases with the goal of performing 10-15 surgeries each trip.

The direct mission trips to Tegucigalpa, Honduras will focus on adult degenerative cases with the goal of performing 20 life-changing spine surgeries each trip. NSF will be the first group to bring spine surgery to the One World Holy Family surgery center and the patients it serves – making this an exciting partnership for both the foundation and community of Tegucigalpa.
